What is the scheme?
The Association's central principle is adherence to the "Guarantee of Confidence" Scheme, which requires that all packs
of edible oil sold and distributed by members conform to all necessary requirements concerning product contents, labelling
and pack sizes. Packs which do so conform are allowed to carry the Association's logo.
The Association carries out a programme of monitoring and analysing packs of edible oils (whether from members or non-members)
to ensure that customers and consumers are not being misled as to the nature or quantity of oils being sold. Misleading or illegal
packs are followed up, often by co-operation with Trading Standards Authorities, and, on occasions, resulting in the prosecution
and conviction of offenders.
