The National Edible Oil Distributors' Association (NEODA) was established in 1947 to represent the interests of edible oil and fat refiners, packers and distributors and to promote the highest standards of food safety, quality and service for the benefit of its members, their customers, and the general consumer. NEODA members account for over 80%of the UK distributor market.

Raw materials include vegetable oils such as rapeseed, sunflower, soyabean, corn, groundnut, olive and palm as well as animal fats like dripping and lard. NEODA's customers include the catering trade, for example restaurants and hotels, schools, factory and hospital canteens, fast food outlets and fish and chip shops. NEODA members also supply supermarkets, grocery stores and cash and carries, as well as family bakers, plant bakers and food manufacturers. Over the years, NEODA has expanded its role within the Fish and Chip market and it now represents many diverse industries allied to the market such as manufacturers of batter mixes, curries, sausages, packaging, potato preservative as well as industry bodies such as The Seafish Industry Authority.

The Association remains committed to its Guarantee of Confidence Scheme and kitemark, whereby all members guarantee their products are of merchantable quality, the volume and weight are as described on the label, the product content fully complies with the description on the label and that the member operates under good manufacturing practice.
